Second exhibition day of TLDCON 2013 was opened with what has already become a traditional conference section “Law and Internet”. The leader of the section Uliana Zinina (Microsoft) called new top-level domains (new gTLD) jurisdictions and domain conflicts issues as main trends in domain industry legal sphere.
Second exhibition day of TLDCON 2013 was opened with what has already become a traditional conference section “Law and Internet”. The leader of the section Uliana Zinina (Microsoft) called new top-level domains (new gTLD) jurisdictions and domain conflicts issues as main trends in domain industry legal sphere. “New top-level domains are in fact a real challenge both for the legislators and for the registries and rigistrars. It’s necessary to have a coordination of all the program participants actions: the applicants, ICANN, government bodies - so that we can find new ways of solving problems which will inevitably rise after these domains appear in Internet space”, - Uliana Zinina outlined. Charlotte Spencer (VOIS), Mikhail Yakushev (ccTLD .RU/.РФ), Maria Malysheva (Technical Center of Internet) and Alina Legoido (Hosting Community) took part in the meeting.
On the technical session of the conference with the main theme of cybersafety, spoke famous experts in this field. The leader of the meeting Pavel Khramtsov explained that this year all the speakers had provided already ready and used solutions. “We are considering already implemented technologies and learning success or failure of their implementation. In fact real activities results useful for anyone have been demonstrated to the conference participants” - said Pavel Khramtsov. The speakers of the session: Jaap Akkerhuis (NetLabs), Thomas Maskus (.LT), Vassily Dolmatov (Hosting Community), Dmitry Belyavsky (TCI) and Alexey Tsvetkov (TCI).
The final session of the conference was dedicated to ccTLD sphere marketing. Wim Degezelle (CENTR), Nadya Morozova (NameMedia), Jokе Braeken (EURid), Tatiana Forsyuk and Liudmila Khmelnitskaya (Hostmaster Ltd) and Julia Ovchinnikova (Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ) spoke at the meeting. The meeting participants discussed the way country top- level domains are developed now and how hundreds of new domain zones appearance (which will happen in the nearest future) will influence their development. According to the majority’s opinion, this ICANN program realization can slow the growth of traditional domains, at this the long-aspired campaign on new gTLD promotion in the whole will positively influence the domain names market and will lead to its growth and expansion. Also the meeting participants spoke about their experience in the field of country domains promotion and domain names popularization among different countries citizens, among this about Coordination Center Internet game “Explore Internet – Govern It” promotion. The session leader Katrina Sataki outlined that marketing field experience exchange will help domain space development.
